This smoothie I originally created with blueberries but they can be interchanged with any fruit or berry and you will still get a delicious protein smoothie. Blueberries are jam packed with antioxidants that fight the free radicals that are damaging to our bodies causing chronic diseases and aging effects. Vitamin C and E are found in these berries which gives higher antioxidant content.
It contains all the ingredients necessary to provide you a fuelling breakfast, snack or post workout beverage. Three things must be present to build a healthy smoothie beverage, Protein, Carbohydrates, and Fat.
Protein gives us the energy we need to keep going and provides fuel to our organs, tissues and bones. It helps us grow and keeps us strong.
Carbohydrates provide us energy and fibre. We have to make sure that we include complex carbohydrates which are whole grains, vegetables and fruits. Steer clear of the simple carbohydrates which are filled with sugar. Including complex carbohydrates with help you feel full longer and allow blood sugar to be stable as they are harder to break down.
Fats also give us energy but are also needed to absorb vitamins and minerals in our bodies and especially our brain. Make sure that you are including good healthy fats like avocado, flax oil, coconut oil, hemp seeds and nuts.

Blueberry Protein Smoothie
1-2 servings
Time 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS
1/2 banana
1/2 cup spinach
1/2 cup blueberries
1/4 cup greek yogurt
3 Tablespoons Hemp Seeds
1 Tablespoon ground flax
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 Tablespoon honey
1 cup water
handful ice
Directions:
Place all ingredients in high speed blender, mix and enjoy. Best served cold.
