Baked Apples

So delicious and so easy to make as a dessert, just make sure that you always try to purchase organic apples so that you avoid any wanted pesticides and other harmful substances.

You can make this recipe with just the apple alone uncored and baked in an oven at 350 degrees and bake until softens.  Depending on the apple size it could be anywhere from 20-60 minutes.  Once out of the oven you can cut open and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Another option is stuffing the apple

INGREDIENTS

4 large apples ( i.e.. honey crisps, Fuji, Red delicious)

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup gluten free rolled oats

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

1/4 cup chopped raisins

1 Tbsp coconut oil

3/4 cup boiling water

DIRECTIONS

1  Preheat oven to 375 degrees

2  Wash your apples well and dry completely.

3  Using an apple corer or knife remove the core, leaving about a 1/2 inch at the bottom.  You dont want to     have the a hole at the bottom only at the top so that the stuffing will remain in the apple.

4  You will want to make the hole about 1-1/2 inches round so that you can get the stuffing inside, hollowing out some of the pulp from inside the apple with a spoon or pairing knife

5  Mix the maple syrup, rolled oats, cinnamon, walnuts and raisins in a small bowl and stuff the apples with the mixture.

6  Place the apples into a 8 x 8 baking dish upright and place a small amount of the coconut oil on each on over the mixture.

7  Pour the boiling water at the bottom of the pan and bake in the preheat oven for 30-45 minutes.  Apples should be cooked through but not mushy.

8 Remove from oven and serve using some of the juices that may have been rendered to drizzle over the apples.
